LiveMap at GenAI Zürich 2026
Earlier this month, LiveMap joined GenAI Zürich 2026 as one of seven hackathon challenge partners. The hackathon is part of Europe's leading applied generative AI summit, taking place on April 1-2 at Volkshaus Zürich. Alongside Apify, GoCalma, Manukai, Qdrant, Siemens, and SonyAI, we had the opportunity to bring real-world problems to an international community of builders.
Two Challenges, One Mission
We submitted two challenges grounded in a simple belief: technology should serve people in the moments that matter. Both challenges explore how location, context, and timing can create real value, whether in urgent situations or everyday life.
We deliberately kept the challenges open. No LiveMap API integration was required. Any tech stack was welcome. What mattered to us was the thinking behind the solution, the concept, the logic, and the approach, as much as the code itself.
The Online Build Phase
350 hackers from 35 countries signed up to participate across all challenges. Over two weeks of remote building, from March 2 to 18, teams designed, prototyped, and submitted their solutions.
Our team was closely involved throughout. Kristin, Olivier, and Claudio presented the challenges to participants at the kickoff and hosted regular online sessions for questions, feedback, and discussion. We wanted to make ourselves accessible, not just as challenge owners, but as sparring partners.
The range of ideas was impressive. Teams explored AI-powered guidance systems, real-time matching logic, context-aware marketplace concepts, and creative uses of location data. Several solutions went well beyond what we expected from a two-week sprint.
What Comes Next
Shortlisted teams now advance to the on-site hack at Volkshaus Zürich on April 1 and 2. They will refine their prototypes, present to the jury, and pitch on the main stage at the winners ceremony. Olivier serves on the jury committee and will help evaluate submissions across all challenges.
We are looking forward to the conference, and to sharing what comes out of it. Stay tuned for a follow-up with results, highlights, and what we take away from the experience.
